For better life of girl child there is 'Balika Samriddhi Yojana' (BSY). Which was started by the central government with the aim of bringing positive change for girls in the society.

If there is a daughter then there is tomorrow, indeed this is 100% true. No society, no country can run without daughters and women. But instead the women of the country and the world have to fight for survival to get basic rights. To alleviate their hardships and for the better life, upbringing and development of girls, the Government of India often goes ahead to implement effective schemes.






One such scheme for better life of girl child is 'Balika Samriddhi Yojana' (BSY). which was launched on 2nd October 1997 by the Central Government with the objective of bringing positive change for girls in the society. Under this scheme, the families living below the poverty line will be benefited by the Government of India. Also, this scheme is only for those families, whose daughter was born after 15 August 1997. Only two daughters of the family can avail the benefit under this scheme.




What is Balika Samriddhi Yojana?

Seeing the growing negativity in the society regarding girls and their education/self-reliance, the government started this scheme. This scheme was implemented in the year 1997, with the help of which mother and child can take initiatives for better life. In the Balika Samriddhi Yojana, the government provides its support for the birth and education of the girl child. At the time of the birth of a daughter, the mother gets financial assistance of Rs.500. And scholarship facility is provided every year for girl child education. Under the scheme, families living in both urban and rural areas who live under BPL can avail the benefit.








Pay special attention to these things?




Only families below poverty line in urban and rural areas can avail the benefit of this scheme.




Daughters born after 15 August 1997. Only eligible applicants will be considered.






The benefits of this scheme will be available only till the girl reaches 18 years of age.




Money can be withdrawn from the account only after the daughter attains majority.




If the daughter is married before attaining majority, the girl will not be eligible for scholarship and interest of any amount received under Samriddhi Yojana. He will get only the Janmotra grant amount of Rs 500 and accrued interest on the same.






Daughter dies of any cause before turning 18. This amount will then be released by the agency to other eligible beneficiaries of the scheme.




Such scholarships will be available




A girl child from first to third class will get an annual assistance of Rs 300.




On admission to the fourth standard, this amount is Rs. 500 will be.






This amount will be Rs 600 on admission to fifth standard.




Scholarship amount on admission in class 6th and 7th is Rs. 700 will be.




A girl child who gets admission in eighth standard will get an amount of Rs.800.




And in class IX and X, the girl will get a scholarship amount of Rs 1000.




How to apply?

Families living in rural areas can register their daughter's name at any Anganwadi center to avail the Balika Samriddhi Yojana. The application of the beneficiary family will be completed by the Anganwadi Centre. You can also do this by visiting a primary health centre. Along with this, beneficiary families can also apply online. Provided that it is very important to fill all the required documents and information correctly.

Guardian's Address - Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Electricity Bill, Voter ID or any legal ID issued by the government as proof of address.




Bank account of mother or daughter





Identity Proof of Guardian – PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID Card, Aadhaar Card etc.
