This is the new rule

According to the new rule, from January 1, 2021, it will be necessary to set zero to talk mobile number from any landline phone. This will enable telecom providers to create more numbers. The Department of Telecom has also issued a circular on November 20 in this regard. The circular said that TRAI's recommendations for a change in the method of dialing numbers from landline to mobile have been taken into account. This will enable adequate number generation for mobile and landline services.

This feature is currently available for calling outside of one's area. Telecom companies have until January 1 to adopt the new system.

254.4 crore number will be prepared from zero

The change in dialing mode will allow telecom companies to generate 254.4 crore incremental numbers for mobile services. This will help meet future needs. Going beyond that, companies will also be able to issue new numbers.

In the future, telecom companies may also issue 11-digit mobile numbers. Currently, the number of mobile subscribers in the country is growing very fast. As a result, the 10-digit mobile number is also declining. Just using zero will make the way forward easier.
